LiquidSpoke Associates Raise $1,000.00 for Toys for Tots
What started out as an office-suite toy drive at LiquidSpoke Inc., a technology-services firm in Wayne, quickly became an officewide competition even beyond that company.
Its original goal was to fill up the box it was given with toys, but a couple of weeks into the drive, LiquidSpoke CEO Rich Tarity told his employees that he would match any donations they made as an incentive for everyone to give even more.LiquidSpoke employees’ new goal is to collect as many toys as possible, which will then be doubled by their CEO.
Though this is LiquidSpoke’s first year doing Toys for Tots, its overwhelming success ensures it will continue the tradition.
“We have had a very good couple of years in the business world and I thought this would be a nice way to give back to the community. We definitely plan on keeping this tradition going for years!” says Tricia Janthor, a marketing assistant at LiquidSpoke.
The toys donated in this collection will be given out by Toys for Tots on a need basis; the Marines have been doing so since 1947. The donated brand-new toys go to less fortunate children in the community in which the toys are collected. Many appreciate the fact that their donated goods will be given to children of their own community.
To spread the word for the office Toys for Tots drive, Janthor made fliers and hung them in the main lobby, bathrooms and entrances for all her co-workers to see. She also sent e-mail reminders to her co-workers to bring in their toys.
Janthor was happy to report that they got a donation of over 200 brand-new books from Sandvik Innovations, a company in the same suite that designed the books.
The Marines came to collect the toys Dec. 17.
